Abstract

Zooplanktons, also regarded as heterotrophic planktons, serve as integral part of food chain. This paper depicts the diversity, seasonal variations of zooplanktons in relation to the seasonal variations of physicochemical parameters of water body of Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal. The study was carried out for six months (November, 2018 to April, 2019). Physicochemical parameters include study of air temperature, water temperature, pH, dissolve oxygen, hardness, free carbon di oxide, alkalinity, phosphate, calcium chloride. Zooplanktons, obtained during this study include protozoa, rotifer, copepod, cladocera, ostracoda and crustacean larva.

Keywords: Food chain, seasonal variation, Purba Bardhaman District, zooplankton diversity, physicochemical parameter.
