Abstract

The goal of this study was to look into the length-weight relationship and relative condition factor of Macrobrachium assamensis, a foothill prawn found in the spring-fed Song River in Doon Valley. According to the findings, there is a strong correlation between length and weight, for male fishes b value was 1.2602 while for female it was1.3323. Both sexes had highly significant correlation coefficient values (r=0.8583 for males and 0.9451 for females). The relative condition factor (R.C.F.) for female Macrobrachium assamensis was highest in January (0.976 ±0.071) and lowest in July (0.729 ±0.059). For male prawns, it was also highest in January (0.969 ±0.048) and lowest in July (0.708 ±0.064). The relative condition factor revealed that January was a better feeding season and that the aquatic environment was more suitable.
